Startup Infinity: Empowering NRIs to Drive Innovation and Economic Growth

Unleashing Potential

Hosting the world’s largest migrant population, with over 32 million Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) living abroad, these non-residents play a significant role in India’s social and economic development. Bridging around $78 billion in remittance to the country’s economy annually these communities are an integral part of our economy. NRIs can be considered untapped resources and their global exposure, financial resources, networks, market insights, entrepreneurial spirit, and potential for knowledge transfer are often ignored. By engaging and leveraging the expertise and resources of NRIs, Kerala Startup Mission aims to unlock new opportunities, drive innovation, and benefit from their diverse skill sets and experiences.

Through Startup Infinity the Kerala Government aims to unite this large NRI population and encourage them to venture into entrepreneurship both in their resident countries and within India. Acting as global desks in select countries, Startup Infinity Centers will facilitate engagement, co-creation, and the establishment of businesses for NRIs. Additionally, these centers will serve as launchpads for Kerala-based startups, enabling them to explore foreign markets.

Global Expansion

Initially, Startup Infinity spaces will come up in four strategic locations worldwide including USA, UAE, Australia, and Europe worldwide. The pilot centers will be established in collaboration with a global partner, and these partners will provide the necessary infrastructure and formulate a twelve-month engagement plan, allowing NRIs to seamlessly register their companies in their resident countries or in Kerala.

Objectives and Offerings

Other than tapping into the NRI pool the Infinity centers will also assist Kerala-based startups to explore the overseas market and make Kerala a key point of access for overseas startups to explore the Indian market, establish an engagement and co-creation space where founders from Kerala and the NRI community come together, network, ideate, and establish new ventures, create NRI angel networks to support the Kerala startup ecosystem and increase the quantum of funding and investment into IT projects in the State.

Startup Infinity Center services will include facilitating necessary help required to register a company in Kerala, plug-and-play facilities in the host countries, providing incubation support during product development and scale-up stages, invitations to participate in KSUM initiatives as an investor, founder, or mentor, an opportunity to network with Kerala-based Angel Syndicates and co-invest with VCs who are part of our Fund of Funds program, and access to investor/business/corporate meetups, demo days, hackathons, and innovation challenges run by KSUM.

The introduction of Startup Infinity Centers by KSUM will mark a significant step toward empowering NRIs to drive innovation, economic growth, and collaboration between Kerala and the global startup community. By providing a comprehensive ecosystem and support network, these centers will serve as catalysts for entrepreneurial success, helping NRIs and Kerala-based startups realize their full potential.
