Technology for Better Healthcare

The primary goal of any technological advancement is to optimize current systems, ease physician’s work, and overall improve patient care reducing human error. The role of technology in healthcare has reshaped how we look at patient-care, hospital management, discovering and innovating better drugs, and predicting the course of treatment based primarily on data. The importance of technology in healthcare is deeply-rooted. From the Internet of Medical Technology (IoMT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and deep learning, technology is now paving its way to provide quick care management and in case of emergencies, reduce casualties by providing real-time access to patient history — all with a few taps on a screen. Innovation has taken center stage. Setting the stage for technological advancement and introducing new technological innovations into the healthcare sector Kerala Startup Mission organized HealthTech Summit 2022 jointly with Kerala Health and Caritas Hospital on 24th June 2022 .

Health Tech Summit 2022 is Kerala’s first summit that brought together the key stakeholders from the Hospitals, Healthcare Professions, Startups, Investor and Government Policy makers in a single roof .This summit focused on leveraging Technology and Digital Landscape for hospitals .

The ‘Health Tech Summit 2022’ was Inaugurated by Smt.Veena George,Minister for Health and Family Welfare , Government Of Kerala. It was featured with 600 + Startups , 185+ Hospitals 35+ speakers and Investors. The other partners are Kerala IT, State Family Welfare Department, State digital health mission and TIMED.

Different panel discussions in Healthcare Innovation with Digital Technologies and its impact on Patient Experience/Care, Leveraging Data and Analytics in HealthCare and in the Investment landscape in the Healthtech sector .Startups will have the amazing opportunity to showcase their products and services to the hospitals and healthcare administrators.

Shri Rajan N. Khobragade, Principal Secretary,Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Kerala addressed the gathering, said KFON (Kerala fiber optic network) has been enabling radical advancements in the digitisation of the state’s health sector. Shri K. Mohammed Y. Safarulla, Director, State Digital Health Mission briefing about the fifth pillar supporting the endeavor that aims to keep the health record of every citizen, spoke about the importance of algorithms and analytics in the sector. “These help us take the technologies to the next level,” he noted in his special address.

India Accelerator Managing Partner Shri Deepak Nagpal his five-year-old organization is poised to partner with Kerala Startup Mission to launch H-Catalayst(HealthTech Accelerator) as a programme that promotes technology for better healthcare by involving 15 startups. The accelerator program will be providing mentorship to the doctors and other healthcare experts in the partnership. Shri John M. Thomas, KSUM Chief Executive Officer, proposed the vote of thanks.

The summit aims to capitalize the prospects of Kerala’s status as a frontrunner in wellness, and has been scheduled at a time when health tech is the country’s fastest-growing startup sector after FinTech. The debates will be on the challenges in health-related data leveraging, with startups getting an opportunity to showcase their products and services to the hospitals and healthcare administrators.

The sessions at the summit include Digital Solutions Landscape for Hospitals, Relevance of Technology Interventions in Scaling a Healthcare Business, Healthcare Innovation in Digital Technologies, Breaking Health Data Silos for Better AI Research, Leveraging Data and Analytics in Healthcare, Epidemic — Best Models via Technology, Revolutions in Healthcare Skills, Investment Landscape in Healthtech, Overview of Medical Devices and Innovation Healthcare Startups.

The Health Tech Summit 2022 brought together 30 + Startups and exhibited their products in front of the Administrators from Hospitals, Doctors, Government Department and the Investors. Over 70+ attendees were present at an interesting Masterclass on Building an Invincible Team and Investing in it — top priority of a founder steered by Shri Hari T N, CHRO, BigBasket, Author & Angel Investor. Here are some snapshots from the event held during the HealthTech Summit. Elaborating on the topic ‘Revolutions in Healthcare Skills’, Dr Srinivasa Rao Pulijala, CEO, Apollo Medskills Ltd, is of the opinion that aiding medical treatment with healthtech is inevitable. He outlined the role of data management and analysis in hospitals and how it could help create new streams of jobs in the medical sector.

Dr Sulthan Khalifa Haroon Al Rashid, United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Students Program Regional Officer (Asia-Pacific), UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network, joined us at the HealthTech Summit today. He said that fundamental and consistent research is needed to revolutionize the health sector and sustainable solutions have to be made. He was speaking on the topic Importance of indigenous research translation in the field of medical technology.

Dr. Satish Prasad Rath, Physician, Founder, Digital Health Professor, DM WIMS Medical College addressed the gathering with his Keynote Address on Digital Solutions Landscape for Hospitals. He gave an in depth perspective of combining IT and Healthcare in order to make health related data structured and functional.
